Integrate Kisi with GymPoint
GymPoint is an AI-powered gym management platform covering memberships, billing, scheduling, point of sale, and member self-service. Connect GymPoint with Kisi to automatically grant and revoke member door access based on live membership status. Active members get in with a fob, keycard, QR pass, or their phone, lapsed memberships are locked out, and every door entry is logged as a member check-in in GymPoint.
This is a partner-built integration, maintained and supported by the partner.
Prerequisites
- Kisi organization administrator rights
- A GymPoint account with owner or admin access
- Kisi controller and Kisi reader installed
Generate a Kisi API key
You need to have organization administrator or organization owner rights to create an API key. We recommend creating API keys from the organization owner's account, to avoid the API key becoming invalid when an organization admin loses their admin rights.
- Sign in to Kisi
- On the top right corner, click on your name and click on My Account
- Next, select the API tab and click on Add API Key
- Enter the name for the API key and your Kisi password and click Add
- Copy the API key shown on the screen and click Close
Set up the integration in GymPoint
- Sign in to GymPoint
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Kisi
- Paste your Kisi API key and click Connect. GymPoint validates the key and registers its event webhook with Kisi automatically — no webhook setup is needed.
- Select your Kisi place, the default door access group for members, and the member role
- Click Save
Use the Test button at any time to verify the connection is healthy.
Configure member access
Access follows each member's billing status in GymPoint, and is provisioned across doors and credentials as follows.
Access rules
Two settings on the integration page control when members lose access:
- Grace period — how many days an overdue membership keeps door access before being revoked
- Cut access on — which membership statuses trigger revocation (defaults to frozen, cancelled, expired, and overdue past the grace period)
Members in good standing are granted access automatically. When a membership lapses into a configured status, GymPoint revokes access in real time and restores it as soon as the member is back in good standing.
Tiered access by plan
To give different membership plans access to different doors, open Access tiers on the same settings page and map each plan to one or more Kisi door groups. Plans without a mapping use the default door group. GymPoint keeps Kisi in sync as members buy, change, or cancel plans.
Credentials and unlock methods
Members can be given any combination of the following, all governed by the same access rules and tiered mapping above.
Fob or keycard
- Open the member's profile in GymPoint
- Find the Door Access section and click Manage next to Door Access Fob
- Enter the fob ID
The fob works at the door within seconds.
Member door unlock
Enable this in the integration settings to let members open the door from the GymPoint member portal on their phone. You can optionally require the member's phone location to match the gym.
QR door passes
Enable this to give members a personal QR pass in the member portal's Door Access tile, ready to scan at a compatible reader. Passes are issued, revoked, and re-issued automatically as membership status changes, so a lapsed member's pass stops working immediately.
QR door passes require a QR-capable Kisi reader such as the Kisi Terminal Pro. Member door unlock and QR door passes do not require members to have a Kisi account or the Kisi app.
How access syncs
Access is granted or revoked in real time on membership changes. A nightly reconciliation sweep runs as a safety net to correct any drift.
Manual changes made in Kisi to GymPoint-managed members may be overwritten by the next sync. GymPoint only manages the users, role assignments, and credentials it creates — users and groups created directly in Kisi are left untouched.
View entries and denials in GymPoint
Successful member entries log attendance check-ins in GymPoint, deduplicated so one visit counts once. Denied entries appear in a staff-facing log with the reason, such as payment overdue or membership frozen.
Limitations
- One Kisi place is supported per GymPoint location
- Supported credentials: 13.56 MHz MIFARE fobs and keycards, QR door passes (at compatible readers), and phone unlock via the GymPoint member portal. Keypad codes and biometrics are not provisioned by the integration.
