Receive and initiate intercom calls
Kisi supports receiving and initiating intercom calls through both web and mobile apps. When visitors press the call button or when admins initiate calls, users can view video, communicate via audio, and remotely unlock doors.
Prerequisites
- Kisi Intercom Pro installed and configured
- Kisi admin assigned as a call receiver for the intercom with permissions to unlock the door
- Notification permissions granted for
web.kisi.iofor web calls
Mobile app requirements
Calls from the Kisi Intercom can be received on the Kisi mobile app. Please ensure call receivers have the Kisi mobile app installed with the following requirements:
- Android
- iOS
- Android OS version 8.0 or higher installed on the device
- Kisi app version 53.1 or higher
- iOS version 17.0 or higher installed on the device
- Kisi app version 48.0 or higher
When a call receiver answers an intercom call on one device, all other devices will automatically stop ringing. When a call receiver rejects an intercom call, the call will continue to ring on the other call receivers' devices.
Grant notification permissions for web calls
To receive intercom calls, you must enable browser notifications for the Kisi web app.
Ensure your browser allows microphone permissions for web.kisi.io to enable two-way audio communication during calls.

- Open Kisi in Safari
- In the top-left of your screen, click Safari > Settings for This Website
- Find the Notifications dropdown
- Select Allow
- Reload the page
macOS system settings
- Go to System Settings > Notifications
- Click on Safari
- Enable Allow Notifications
- Optionally, turn on Banners or Alerts style

- Open Kisi in Chrome
- Click the lock icon in the address bar
- Find Notifications in the dropdown
- Set to Allow
- Reload the page

chrome://settings/content/notifications - Under Allowed to send notifications, verify
web.kisi.iois listed - If it's under Not allowed, remove it and revisit the site to get prompted again
macOS system settings
- Go to System Settings > Notifications
- Select Google Chrome
- Enable Allow Notifications
- Disable Focus Mode if enabled

- Click the lock icon in the address bar
- Click the arrow, then click More Information
- In the page info panel, go to Permissions
- Find Send Notifications and check Allow

Receive a call
- Web
- Mobile
When someone rings the intercom:
- A call dialog will appear on your screen
- Click Answer to start the video and audio session
- Click Unlock Door to grant access to the visitor
- You can also end the call, ignore it, or answer using the mobile app
Keep the Kisi web app open in a browser tab to receive calls in real-time.
When someone rings the intercom, you'll receive a call notification on your mobile device similar to a regular phone call. You can:
- Click Answer to start the video and audio session
- Click Unlock Door to grant access to the visitor
- Click End Call to terminate the call
Initiate calls to the intercom
You can also initiate calls to the Kisi Intercom Pro from both the Kisi mobile app and web dashboard. This allows admins to contact visitors or check on the entrance remotely.
- Only admins may initiate calls to the intercom
- Calls will automatically terminate after 15 minutes
- Calls will not be recorded
- The intercom LED will blink yellow during active calls

- Click on Doors, find and click on the door linked to the intercom
- Click on Call Intercom
- Sign in to your Kisi mobile app
- Find the door with intercom
- Tap the vertical ellipsis icon (⋮)
- Tap Call Intercom
