Admin quick start

Here you can find a guide that will let you create your Kisi account and set up the basics needed to get started. You will learn how to create your first Place, Door, and Group, connect the required hardware, invite Users, and share access.

Prerequisites

  • Kisi organization administrator rights.
  • An active Kisi subscription for your organization.
  • Access to your organization's registered email inbox.
  • A Kisi controller and reader installed at a door, and both powered on.
  • A valid internet connection for all devices.

Set up your Kisi account

Once a new Kisi organization is created, the organization owner receives an automatic email with a new authentication link.

  1. In the email, click Sign In.
  2. The magic link will prompt you to create a new account in your organization environment.
  3. Enter your name, password, and accept the terms and conditions.
  4. Click Sign In, and you will be taken to your organization.

Configure first place, door, and group

After signing in for the first time, a popup will guide you to set up your first Place, Door, and Group.

  1. In the pop-up, enter the Place Name.
  2. Enter the Address of the place.
  3. Enter the Door Name for the door you have connected Kisi controller to.
  4. Enter the Group Name for the group that will get access to that door.
  5. Click Configure.

Add and configure hardware

Connect a Reader and a Controller to enable access through your Door.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Hardware > Readers and click Add Reader.
  2. Enter the reader Token (found on the "tail" of the reader), name it, then click Add.
  3. Open the created reader, find your Door in the search bar, and assign it.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Go to Hardware > Controllers and click Add Controller.
  6. Enter the controller Token (found inside the controller), name it, then click Add.
  7. Open the created controller, go to Relays, and select the relay wired to your Door lock.
  8. Assign your Door to the relay and click Save.

Give a group access to a door

Groups define which Doors Users can unlock. After creating a Group, assign it to your Door.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Groups and select your Group.
  2. Click Doors, then Add Doors.
  3. Select your place and search for the Door you created.
  4. Click Add.

Add a user and assign them to a group

To grant access, invite a User and add them to the Group linked to your Door.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Users and click Add User.
  2. Enter the user's Email Address and Name.
  3. Click on Share Access and enter the group name you created.
  4. Click Share, then click Add.

Create a temporary access credential

Access links let you quickly share temporary access.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Credentials > Digital Credentials.
  2. Click Add Credential.
  3. In Type, select a link and/or QR code.
  4. In Send Via, choose how the link will be delivered, and enter required information.
  5. In Access Permissions, search for and select the Group you created.
  6. Set the Valid From and Valid Until dates.
  7. Click Send to generate and send the temporary credential.
