Use your own tablet

If you do not have a Kisi Kiosk Pro but still want a dedicated device for visitor check-ins or bookings, you can pin any Kisi web app to your own iOS or Android tablet as a Progressive Web App (PWA). This gives you a full-screen, app-like experience on hardware you already own.

What you can pin as a PWA​

  • Visitor self-check-in — pin the self-check-in form URL for your location. To find it, sign in to Kisi, navigate to Visitor Management > Self-Check-In, and copy the registration link. The URL will look like:

    https://marketplace.kisi.io/visitor-management/self-check-in/aB1dE2fG-H34j

  • Bookings — pin the bookings page URL for your space. To find it, navigate to Bookings, select your place from the dropdown, and click the copy link icon. The URL will look like:

    https://marketplace.kisi.io/bookings/reservation/hJ5kL6mN-Op78

Prerequisites​

  • A tablet (iOS or Android) connected to the internet
  • Google Chrome (recommended on Android) or Safari (required on iOS)
  • The URL of the Kisi web app you want to pin

iOS​

Install the PWA​

  1. Open Safari on your device
  2. Navigate to your Kisi web app URL
  3. Tap the Share icon
  4. Select Add to Home Screen
  5. Tap Add in the top right corner
  6. Open the app from your home screen

Lock the app for dedicated use​

Use Guided Access to prevent users from leaving the app. See Apple's instructions for setup.

Android​

Install the PWA​

  1. Open Google Chrome on your tablet
  2. Navigate to your Kisi web app URL
  3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner
  4. Select Add to Home screen
  5. Tap Install in the popup
  6. Open the app from your home screen

Lock the app for dedicated use​

  1. Open Settings on your Android device
  2. Go to Security & Privacy > Advanced > Screen Pinning (exact path may vary by device)
  3. Turn on Screen Pinning
  4. Open the Kisi app
  5. Tap the Recents button
  6. Tap the app icon at the top of the window
  7. Select Pin this app

To unpin, press and hold the Back and Overview buttons simultaneously.
