Kisi with legacy controllers

Instead of connecting the Kisi Controller Pro 2 directly to door strikes, you can connect it to your existing legacy controller via Wiegand wiring. Your legacy controller then operates the door strike using existing wiring.

Benefits

  • Keep your existing controllers and door hardware intact
  • Preserve current wiring and infrastructure investments
  • Add modern mobile credentials without system disruption
  • Maintain familiar door operation and security protocols

How it works

This specific connection can be integrated into any other Kisi setup as a link between the Kisi Controller Pro 2 and door strikes. This includes standard deployments, two-wire solutions, deployments with or without a Kisi reader, and any other Kisi deployment configuration.

Power supplies are required for the Kisi Controller Pro 2 and legacy controller. Check the individual hardware documentation for appropriate DC power adapters.

Access logic

Mobile app access

  1. The user taps to unlock in the Kisi mobile app
  2. Kisi cloud verifies the credential and sends unlock command to the controller
  3. The controller transmits unlock command to the legacy controller which opens the door strike

As this is a modular component that can be integrated into any Kisi deployment, available access options depend on the complete system configuration. By using a legacy controller, legacy credentials will be accessible if a reader is connected to the legacy controller. See migration paths to check what access options are available for different deployment methods.
