Using two-wire solution
This option brings Kisi to doors that only have legacy wiring. Using a two-wire solution, you can reuse existing cables while adding Ethernet to the Kisi readers without rewiring the site.
Benefits
- Seamlessly integrate Kisi
- Keep your existing wiring infrastructure intact
- No additional recabling cost
- Bring high-speed Ethernet to the edge for future-ready setups
- Enjoy the full range of Kisi features
What you need to upgrade
To upgrade your existing access control system with Kisi using the two-wire solution, you only need to:
- Acquire a two-wire switch and two-wire adapter
- Connect the two-wire switch and the Kisi Controller Pro 2 to your PoE switch via Ethernet
- Connect the Kisi Controller Pro 2 to the strike using the existing legacy wiring
- Plug the existing legacy wiring that previously went to your old controller into the two-wire switch
- Plug the existing legacy wiring that previously went to your old reader into the two-wire adapter
- Connect the Kisi Reader Pro 2.1 to the two-wire adapter
Power supplies are required for the PoE switch, Kisi Controller Pro 2, and two-wire switch. Check the individual hardware documentation for appropriate DC power adapters.
This deployment supports all access options: mobile app unlocks (Kisi cloud verifies the credential and sends an unlock command to the controller), and reader-based unlocks including Mobile Tap, MotionSense, physical credentials, and Bluetooth (the reader sends credential data to Kisi cloud, which authorizes and commands the controller). See migration paths for a comparison across deployment methods.
