Set unlock schedules

Unlock schedules allow you to keep a door unlocked during a defined time period. When applied to elevators, Unlock schedules keep an elevator stop unlocked during a defined time period.

Example

As an admin, you want to keep shared spaces like breakrooms, kitchens, or collaboration areas unlocked during business hours. To achieve this, you can set an Unlock schedule for these doors, covering your usual business hours.

Set an unlock schedule

  1. Sign in to Kisi
  2. On your place dashboard, click on Doors
  3. Select the door you want to set an unlock schedule for
  4. Scroll down and select the Unlock schedules tab
  5. Click on Add schedule
  6. Select Unlock
  7. In the Type dropdown, choose between Single event or a Recurring event:
  • For Single Events, you can select the unlock event to occur all day and for a specific time window
  • For Recurring Events, you can select the unlock event to occur on a specific day within a time period, or have the door unlocked all day
  1. Add a start/end date and time
  2. Click Save

Set an unlock schedule exception

Unlock schedule exceptions ('Holiday schedules') allow you to override a previously set unlock schedule and require valid access permissions to unlock the door during the selected time period.

There can be three types of Unlock schedule exceptions:

  • Single event: the door will remain locked once, during the selected time period
  • Recurring event: the door will remain locked on a repeating schedule
  • Holiday events: the door will remain locked during public holidays, based on region-specific calendars
Example
  • As an admin, you want to ensure that shared spaces, typically unlocked during business hours, seamlessly transition to a locked state on specific days, e.g. on holidays. To achieve this, you can set an Unlock schedule exception for these doors by defining the specific days manually or simply selecting from the list of holidays in your region.
  1. On your place dashboard, click on Doors
  2. Select the door you want to set an unlock schedule exception for
  3. Scroll down and select the Unlock schedules tab
  4. Click on Add schedule
  5. Select Exception
  6. In the Type dropdown, you can choose between Single event, Recurring event, or Holiday events. Based on your selection, follow the instructions below.

On a single event

To keep the door locked once, you can add a single event as exception to override an unlock schedule.

  1. Open the Type dropdown and select Single event
  2. Add a start/end date and time. If the door should remain locked all day, enable the All day toggle.
  3. Click Save

On a recurring event

To keep the door locked more than once, you can add a recurring event as exception to override an unlock schedule.

  1. Open the Type dropdown and select Recurring event
  2. Select the days on which the door should remain locked
  3. Add a start/end date and time. If the door should remain locked all day, enable the All day toggle.
  4. Click Save

On a holiday event

To keep the door locked on certain holidays, you can also add a whole holidays list that is specific for your region as exception by choosing the Holiday event option.

  1. Open the Type dropdown and select Holiday events
  2. Open the Holiday region dropdown and select your region
  3. Use the checkboxes to select or deselect holidays as needed
  4. For holidays that fall on a weekend, you can enable the Observed holiday toggle to make sure the preceding Friday or following Monday will be observed as holiday
  5. Click Save

Edit or disable unlock schedules and exceptions

Unlock schedules are presented in a weekly view by default. To edit, disable or delete a schedule, you must switch to the list view.

  1. On your place dashboard, click on Doors
  2. Select the door you want to modify an unlock schedule for
  3. Scroll down and select Unlock schedules tab
  4. Open the Weekly view dropdown and switch to List view
  5. Based on what you want to achieve, follow the instructions below:
  • Edit: open the schedule and make your adjustments
  • Enable/disable: navigate to the schedule you want to enable/disable, and use the toggle next to it. Alternatively, you can select it using the checkbox on the left, and click Enable/Disable
  • Delete: select the schedule you want to delete using the checkbox on the left, and click Delete
