Change access rights
After you created a user and shared access rights with them, you may want to assign them other roles, change the roles, or remove them.
In this article, we will explain how to change access rights from the individual user profile. Alternatively, you can use the Access rights tab in the left-hand navigation to share access with users.
View a specific user's access rights
- Sign in to Kisi
- On your organization dashboard, click on Users
- Use the search field to locate the desired user
- Click on their username to open the user profile
- Scroll down the page and choose the Access rights tab. On the right side, any assigned roles for the user will be displayed. Based on your specific requirements, follow the instructions below accordingly.
Share new access rights
- Access the user profile as described above, and navigate to the Access rights section
- Click on Share access
- In the Select scope section, choose the desired level to assign the access rights: group, place, or organization
- If you selected Group or Place, specify the specific group or place to which you want to assign access rights for the user
- Choose the preferred role from the available options
- Click on Assign
Change access rights
- Access the user profile as described above, and navigate to the Access rights section
- Click on the access right you want to change
- Make your changes
- Click Save
Suspend access rights
To prevent a user from unlocking any Kisi-enabled door, you can suspend their access from both the Kisi web and mobile apps.
- Web
- Mobile
- Sign in to Kisi
- On your organization dashboard, go to Users
- On the user list, navigate to the user you want to suspend access for
- Scroll down to the Permissions section and enable the Suspend Access option
- Click Save
- Sign in to Kisi on mobile
- Tap on the Home icon to open the admin dashboard
- Tap on Manage existing users
- Search for the user for whom you wish to suspend access
- Under Suspend access, enable the toggle
Users managed by SCIM might have their access suspended even when this setting is disabled. The actual user status is shown next to their name at the top of this page.
Remove access rights
You may not demote or remove a permission that's higher than you own permission level.
- Users with password authentication
- Users managed by SCIM
- Access the user profile as described above, and navigate to the Access rights section
- Navigate to the access right you want to remove
- Click on the bin icon next to it
If your organization utilizes SCIM for user provisioning, you should directly remove user access through your Identity Provider (IdP).
If you only remove the user or their access from Kisi, and a full synchronization is triggered on the IdP side, the user will be re-added to Kisi with the same access rights if their mapping settings remain unchanged.
