Communicate on the local network ("LAN")

Controllers and readers use the local network to communicate with each other for various purposes:

  • Update events for door and elevator state
  • Update events for intrusion detection state
  • Offline communication

Find out more below.

Update events for door and elevator state

The controller periodically and upon change sends feedback status to the reader informing it about:

  • Lockdowns
  • Schedules
  • Door unlocks
  • Door openings
  • Zone violations

If the reader stops receiving feedback status, within 10 seconds, it returns to its default feedback (blue).

Update events for intrusion detection state

The zone controller will use the local network to arm locks assigned to its zones depending on zone state, for instance if a zone is transitioning to the AWAY state.
