Integrate Playground with Kisi

With the Playground integration, families and staff can unlock doors directly from the Playground mobile app, check in/out students with automatic door unlocking via kiosk mode, and manage door access hours based on roles and schedules.

Prerequisites

Before setting up the integration, ensure you have:

• Kisi Controller Pro 2 installed and connected to your doors
• Organization administrator access to your Kisi account

Set up the integration

Add Playground as a user in Kisi

1. Sign in to Kisi
2. Navigate to Users > Add Users
3. Add a Playground admin as a user with organization administrator access (refer to Playground's integration article for the specific email address)
4. Send an email to the Playground admin email address you added to notify them that access has been granted
5. Playground will configure the integration and notify you when complete

Organization administrator access is required for Playground to connect your Kisi account and manage door access for families and staff. Ensure you understand what permissions organization administrator access grants before providing a Playground-managed user with this level of access. Kisi is not responsible for how third-party integrations use or secure accounts with administrator access.

How it works

Opening doors remotely

Families and staff can unlock doors from anywhere using the Playground mobile app:

1. Open the menu and select Door Access
2. Tap a door to unlock it
3. The door unlocks for approximately 5 seconds, then automatically relocks

Check-in kiosk with door unlocking

Set up a kiosk tablet or mobile device that automatically unlocks doors when families or staff check in/out via PIN code:

1. On an admin or staff device, tap Kiosk on the home screen
2. Tap Lock to initiate kiosk mode
3. Select Tap to select a door connection for this kiosk and which door to connect to the kiosk
4. Enter your center PIN to lock the device in kiosk mode

Once configured, the door will automatically unlock when students or staff complete their check in/out.

Door access scheduling

By default, staff can unlock doors remotely from the Playground mobile app based on their assigned role, and guardians can only unlock doors through the kiosk. You can customize remote access permissions in Playground's settings:

• Cannot unlock this door: Users can only unlock via the kiosk, not from their phone
• Can unlock this door at certain times: Users can unlock from their phone during specific time windows (kiosk always available)
• Can always unlock this door: Users can unlock from their phone 24/7

To manage door access hours, navigate to Settings > Door access hours in your Playground Admin Dashboard and enable "Manage access for each door individually."

These schedules only apply to remote unlocking from the Playground mobile app. Kiosk-based unlocking is always available regardless of these settings.
