Kisi Intrusion Detection
Set up Kisi's Intrusion Detection to monitor and register unauthorized entries, as well as to secure door scheduling.
The Kisi native and the third-party Intrusion Detection capabilities are available both on the Controller Pro 1 and on Controller Pro 2 devices. The difference is in the number of inputs: while the Controller Pro 1 has eight pre-configured inputs (four contact sensors, four request-to-exits), the Controller Pro 2 has twelve generic inputs, configurable as either contact sensor or request-to-exit.
Hardware requirements
- Contact sensors installed in the doors you want to monitor
- Kisi Readers for the exterior doors
- A spare relay must be available on the Kisi controller in case you want to connect a siren (can be added any time later)
Set Alarm Controller
- Sign in to Kisi
- Open your place
- Navigate to Hardware and select the Controllers tab
- Click on the desired controller
- Toggle on the Alarm Controller option
- Click Save
Add a zone
Currently you can add up to four Kisi-native alarm zones. You can't add any third-party alarm zone if you already have a Kisi-native zone added and vice versa.
- Sign in to Kisi
- Open your place
- In the left-hand menu, click on Intrusion Detection
- Click on Add Zone
- Enter the Zone name
- Open the Alarm Type dropdown and select Kisi Intrusion Detection
- Click Save
Configure a zone
After creating your zone, you can enable Intrusion Detection for it, configure its doors, hardware (siren), alarm schedule and alert policies.
- Click on the zone you created above
- Toggle on Enable Intrusion Detection
- Scroll down, select the Doors tab, and click on Add Door
- From the popup, select the door you want to add. You can also enable Exterior Door if the door is used to leave or enter the zone.
- Click Add
- Next, select the Alert Policies tab
- Enter the email address of the user that should be notified upon policy violation, when the alarm is triggered
- Click on the user to configure the notification preferences
- Click Save
- Next, select the Hardware tab to configure the siren
- Under Alarm Controller, define which controller is connected to your alarm. Only one can be defined per place.
- In the Relay field, define the relay that is connected to your alarm siren
- In the Arming Delay field, define how long the alarm controller should wait before arming
Note: When the system is scheduled to change to away mode, the siren will produce a warning sound to notify that it will switch to the away mode after the arming delay. This is a sign to the people still present in the facility to either leave or to make sure to override the mode by accessing an exterior door reader.
- Click Save
Create Alarm schedules
- Click on the zone and scroll down to Alarm Schedule
- Select the hour block you want to add an alarm schedule to
- In the new popup, define the Start Time and the End Time
- Open the Default Mode dropdown and select one of the two options:
- Stay: the zone state changes to policy violated in case of unauthorized zone entry only. Users with valid credentials are allowed to enter and stay in the facilities.
- Away: nobody should be inside, including users with valid credentials. The zone state changes to policy violated in case of opened door activity detected for any door, including the interior ones.
- Open the Override on Access dropdown and select one of the two options:
- None
- Disarm: alarm is deactivated
Note: Override modes can last 60 or 120 minutes.
When a zone enters policy violated state, notifications are sent to chosen recipients and, if installed, an alarm siren is triggered. When the default mode is overridden or when the alarm is triggered, as a Kisi admin you can reset the zone to the default mode from the zone list.
When the alarm is triggered, the Kisi Reader Pro 2.0 will blink red and blue. For more information on reader feedback colors, see the Kisi Reader Pro 2.0 reference page.
Intrusion Detection on mobile
Currently you can add and configure zones only through the Kisi web app. Once configured, you will see their status on your Kisi mobile app, too.
- Open Kisi on mobile
- Open your Admin Dashboard
- Click on Intrusion Detection
When the default mode is overridden or when the alarm is triggered, you can reset the zone to the default mode by selecting the zone and clicking on Reset to default.
