Reader Pro

Readers are the IP-based devices responsible for authorizing users through Kisi passes or mobile phones. Once a user presents a Kisi pass or mobile to the reader, it transmits the information to the controller through the cloud or the local network. Depending on availability, readers will use either the cloud or the local network as the primary communication channel.

The Kisi reader offers feedback through a LED light that can be of different colors depending on the result of the unlock attempt. If the user is not authorized, the LED light will blink in red color.

Decentralized installation#

Kisi Reader Pro does not need to connect to the access control box. It just needs the internet and power. For optimum performance, use PoE and place the reader on the same LAN as the access control box.

Retrofitting#

Installations contingent on existing building infrastructure may require a conversion of data protocols to bring the internet to controllers and readers.

Standalone media converter#

For scenarios with existing two-wire cabling, Kisi offers a Standalone Media Converter with these characteristics:

🔌 PoE supported

Standalone media converters utilize the existing analog distribution mains to connect IP-based equipment to a switch without having to run new Ethernet cables through the facility. These converters work with both controllers and readers. For every Kisi device, two converters are required: one next to the device, and one at the switch.
